For some reason many people think everything is different, if they do business over the Internet. This is wrong. The Internet is just an additional sales channel - albeit a very powerful one. So accepting money over the Internet is no different to accepting money from a customer who orders a product from you by telephone. You can ask people to send you a check, money order or to transfer money into your account. Or you can offer them Cash On Delivery or use any other payment method you need to offer to do business. Accepting credit cards is a little more complex - as it requires you to have a special bank account. This bank account is called a merchant account. Talk to your bank to find out if they can provide you with a merchant account or ask them who can. If you run an existing business, you may already accept credit cards. Ask your bank, if this account may be used to do business over the Internet. If they don't allow you to do this, just talk to another bank.
If you can not get a merchant account from your bank, you can also use a service such as PayPal, which processes credit cards on your behalf for a very low processing fee (usually less than your bank will offer you) or one of the other payment service providers, who may also be able to help you get ready to accept credit cards. |

This Service allows you to accept any payment methods you need - from credit cards to Cash on Delivery, from Checks to Purchase Orders. It is the most flexible payment system and is part of the GlobeCharge Service. The system collects the payment data for you, and you manually authorize the payment yourself, using your existing facilities. The great advantage: there are no extra costs if you already have a facility which allows you to accept credit cards in your existing business.
Manual Processing can be combined with any other payment service provider. For example if you use PayPal to accept credit cards via their free credit card processing service, then payments with credit cards can be immidiately approved - and Manual Processing makes sure that you can also accept the payment methods which are relevant to you and your customers, but which are not supported by a real-time payment gateway such as PayPal. |
